ANA says to form alliance with Air NZ,Ansett,Varig

TOKYO, April 23 (Reuters) - All Nippon Airways said on Friday it had agreed to form a frequent flyer alliance with Air New Zealand , Ansett Australia and Brazilian airline Varig SA.

The alliance, to take effect July 1, will allow members of ANA's mileage programme to collect miles and claim awards on any of Air New Zealand's routes to 48 cities in 15 countries, Ansett's routes to 152 cities in six countries and Varig's routes to 122 cities in 23 countries, and vice versa.

Air New Zealand, Ansett and Varig are members of the Star Alliance network. ANA is scheduled to join the Star Alliance in October.
