is there a Wiki or thread for *A gold baggage allowance
 

I think on most airlines on normal fares (not HBO) it's +one 44 lb (or what fare class allows). I had a look on FT for a thread on this and couldn't find one.

Each airline will handle it differently, so you really need to go to the individual airline's website.

OK thanks for your reply - I went through 4 SA carriers before making my initial post. I made my assumptions based on that - You would think there would be an 'quick reference' chart out there somewhere.

They used to have one but I see they've replaced it with a page with a bunch of links to the individual airline's websites.

Considering that's from 2015, and the rules change regularly, I wouldn't hold too much stock in that document.

As it's the "current" *A reference guide (there being no 2016 guide as yet AFAIK), and the only place where all airlines' policies were listed, it's still useful. Also the OP was querying the weight system rather than the piece system. It's the piece system where most of the variation lies. As of 2015 the weight system was an extra 20 kg (44 lbs) across all carriers for *G.

It's a useful baseline reference, thanks. I was about to say that creating a chart would only be a 1/2 day exercise but AC doesn't even reference star alliance, well not that I could find. I'm not going to go through all the carriers.

However, also it's these 'Economy Light' or 'Hand Baggage Only' fares which don't seem to honor any additional free luggage for *G.

Also at least one carrier (AAR) allows an additional bag with the weight of the fare-class applying.

Out of interest I just called up AC and the agent told me for *G 3 bags at 70lbs but not to check bags in online otherwise you would be charged.

AC is 3 free bags 70lbs each for all *G for all routes. I'd say that's probably the most friendly policy in the alliance.
