Most recently was asked for *G card at the Silverkris lounge in HKG in February of this year. This greatly annoyed the person in line behind me, who spent a good 5 minutes looking for his UA card. Ridiculous. All other times I've been in that lounge, nobody has ever been asked to show the card.

Was asked for OZ *G card again a few days ago in TK lounge in IST. My LH boarding pass would not scan, so they had to manually enter all my details.

If the BP for some reason cannot scan it is no surprise that the lounge agents ask for your card.
|
I rarely need to show the card, but it does happen. |

Just be careful that the lounge dragon doesn't change the FFP without telling you, if your Gold card is for a different airline to who you are crediting to. That happened to me recently at WAW. I confirmed the FFP at check-in as A3 on my BP, and I didn't do anything at the gate except show the same BP, but the miles somehow went to SQ. The only way this could have happened is due to showing my KF Gold Card in the LO lounge in order to access the *G section. I'd done this plenty of times at CPH without ever having a problem - but at WAW it happened twice in the same month and now I don't even risk showing the card!

This rule is not always respected, though the transgressions are becoming less and less common. For example, I've not been asked to show a card twice in a row at LX SEN lounge ZRH :) |
Just entered the LH SEN Lounge at FRA B gates and didn't need my card which is a first. This is the only lounge that I've had to show it in the past.

From what I've gathered, if you have a non TK bp it won't scan and you will always need to show your card.

Just adding another data point. My UA boarding pass (*G) was quickly scanned by NZ in both AKL and SYD recently without issue. No need for a card.

Never had problem with LH, SK, A3, AI, SQ BPs as TK *G. The only time I have been asked to show the card was with ET at ADD.
