RTW - 2 parallel itineraries
I am sorry if this is the wrong thread, but here goes my question.
Currently the RTW in C class for Star Alliance passengers starting in Europe has a new rule that states that the last intercontinental segment must not start earlier than 10 days after the first flight. Is it possible to be on two separate but "overlapping" in time RTW itineraries one starting in Europe the other in the US? |
There are no rules that govern two separate tickets. So do as you please, nesting RTW's is pretty common since they can span a year.
|
Thank you very much - I had the impression it was so - but was afraid I might have missed something :) "nesting RTWs" I will remember that.
|
But why are you even a *A RTW from Europe, unless you need a lot of flexibility or have a very expensive route, it's not the bargain it once was?
|
An RTW ticket is still cheaper from WAW to SYD than a regular one. I will add visiting friends in the US into the itinerary. It's a mixture of business and leisure. I know it's not exactly very practical... just looking at options. And booking two RTW itineraries might make sense in one of the scenarios.
|
It's perfectly practical.... but RTW are a lot better value when you actually use most of the 16 stops. But that's for you to decide, especially if the business part is paid for by someone else.

1. The ten day rule is just a minimum stay provision. Its role is partially to make it difficult to use RTW fares for business trips or MRs.
2. If your RTW includes Australia, be sure to check the maximum mileage rules carefully. Typically including SYD in a RTW incurs an additional fee for the extra distance flown. |

Also check starting points in Asia. Last time I checked Korea was cheapest. You could use the first RTW only to Korea, then get the second from there, go back to Korea and keep circling. Or buy a One Way to Korea and start from there.
