Lounge access arriving in SFO on Lufthansa first class

My daughter is flying in from Munich to SFO on Lufthansa first class and she has a 3.5 hour layover in SFO before flying (unfortunately in economy outbound) to Portland Oregon. Will she have access to any lounge as a first class Lufthansa arriving passenger, if she has sufficient time to use one? Thank you.

Lounge access arriving in SFO on Lufthansa first class

If her connection in San Francisco is onto United, she should get access to either of the United Clubs by showing her inbound boarding card. Many times the smaller west coast flights from SFO have no first class, so any connecting premium cabin passenger could very well be in economy.

Yes, it is United she is flying to Portland, which is a two-cabin flight, but I could not find her a first class seat in first on the award saver space. Thank you for the help.

She may try going to the United Global First Lounge and asking politely if she can be allowed in; There's a chance they'll allow her in because she's on a paid *A F ticket. If that doesn't work, she can try the 2 United Clubs (International Terminal and T3).

On a related note, you can check the United Club Meet-Up Thread to see if someone will be around then and edit the wiki to put your daughter's timing there.

Best of luck!

Technically, she doesn't get access as per http://www.staralliance.com/en/benef...access-policy/, but she may find an understanding lounge agent. The United rules at http://www.united.com/web/en-US/cont...ge/access.aspx are somewhat unclear, and different agents may interpret them differently.

Thank you, I told her she may be turned down, she will try if she has sufficient waiting time between planes.

No she doesn't, and whether she is connecting on a plane with F or connecting to a UA flight or not is irrelevant, as lounges are used as departure lounge, not arrival lounge (there is an arrival lounge in SFO, but that's for UA metal pax only). Not to mention *A rules state very clear that one can only use the F lounge when they are departing at the local airport in int'l F. United Club access only if the person is *G or UA*G arriving from a UA in'tl flight.

Now if she is arriving int'l F on UA, then she may have a chance to use the IFL in SFO, but any other partners, definately not.

UA rules are irrelevant because she is not incoming from UA, and she is not *G.

"Customers ticketed with other Star Alliance® carriers should consult the policy from each member airline or the Star Alliance lounge policy regarding lounge access"

An understanding agent at the SFO GFL lounge? That lounge is known as probably the most difficult to access in the entire UA system.

And since she will not be flying a qualifying international UA flight, the UA access rules are irrelevant. Nor is there anything particularly unclear about them. Certainly not with respect to this scenario.

Thanks all - I will just tell her to go to gate and stay there, it's the last leg of the flight before a short trip to Portland. I am glad you clarified, it's better than having her turned away.

Note she can take a shower for $15 at Freshen Up, which is located outside arrivals in the International terminal. Yelp - Freshen Up.
