Why is One World more competitive than *A?

I cannot believe the great deals always posted here for one World carriers, includng AA, MH, BA and others.

Why is *A not matching these deals in J, Z or F.

I cannot wait for *A to step up to the plate or be lost in the dust.

Because most people, including you, like to fly *A - there is little incentive for *A carriers to be "competitive".

Its ironic because I see lots of UA deals in Y.... not as many AA for example.

I think it depends on route and date. From MAN/DUB/BFS to the US, *A has consistently been cheaper this year for me.

I felt like that too. AA's MRs are all lame while UA had some amazing deals.

I also see a much larger number of Y runs on *A than 1W. On the other hand I haven't seen a single one in premium cabins, which seem to come up on 1W every so often. I would also very much like to see some premium cabin runs on *A :)

What?! There is next to nothing on OW compared to what has been available on *A (UA especially) over the last few months.

*A routing rules (or lack thereof) are your friend...

Depends very much on where you are based and where you are trying to fly to.

IME, you are just as likely to find a cheap fare on *A as on OW.

It's also not especially hard to find premium cabin itineraries on UA in the 10 cpm range. I've got two such trips booked over the next six weeks - SFO-BOG and SFO-SJU.

This is so variable on the routes you're flying. Example, CA beats the hell out of CX and JL on a lot of ex-HKG routes. Long haul between Asia-Africa then QR dumps a lot of cheap inventory on the market, same Asia-Europe both QR and MH still have cheap prices. Most of the time Japan to North America though its UA as the price leader. Going to Australia for me it's usually Skyteam leading the pack... but regardless of the prices, status is important to me and I don't fly 150-200k a year anymore to earn a level with lounge privileges on more than one alliance so I pay the *A rate and don't really even shop off-alliance.
