Mileage based *A program wanted for an LH redemption GVA-DUS

Hi,

Fares on this route are a ridiculous Ł645 for a 1 hour 10 minute flight.

There is availability for an economy redemption, obviously it would be better booked through a partner who bases cost on the mileage of the flight, rather than Europe-Europe etc. etc.

Any suggestions for the best *A partner to book with? I have UK amex MRs and SPG points. I may even consider buying miles.

The best program for that award would probably be UA MP as one-way tickets cost 50% of a return ticket and there are no fuel surcharges.

Just make sure that the award inventory is available to *A partners and not just M&M members as availability is more generous for the latter.

Is this a round-trip ticket? If so, I'd consider ANA's program since it's distance based.

One-way. I'll take a look at both.

Thanks.

M&M has better availability than UA MP, but require 15k points (1:1 to spg) and about 80$ tax incl fuel surcharge.

You should also check the price of an RT ticket - often cheaper tahn OW including taxes.

Another option is Kuwait Airways - they sell very cheap OWs from GVA to FRA - and then around 1:20 on the train from FRA airport to downtown Duesseldorf

I've spotted that. It's only Ł70. But have you flown it, how is Kuwait airlines? From a safety aspect more than anything else. Mrs Dannyrado doesn't seem keen on the idea.

KU is OK, but they tend to be late on that leg and have no respect for EU passenger rights. They will rebook you onto LH if you know your rights and insist on a rebooking during delays.

Its also a 'dry' airline.

Besides, have you also considered taking the train?

Or else, you may have to backtrack to LHR and use BA miles. GVA-LHR, LHR-DUS.
