no miles on class L ???
 

Hey y'all. I'm new here- still learning.
I'm flying this summer with a group to Australia. (group booking, group fare, etc.) My proposal from New Zealand Air (travel agent is going through them) said I won't be getting FF miles because our seats are class L. I believe this is referring speciffically to Air New Zealand miles. Am I right, and if so, will I still be able to use my United Airlines number and get miles through them to be used in the Star Alliance network? Will I need to upgrade to class T for this? I haven't booked yet, but I need to confirm this week. many thanks!!

Every FF plan has its own rules as to mileage earning classes on its own and other
alliance members flights. You have to check the rules of the airline you which to accrue
to, they will show which classes you earn miles on, and whether they are full miles
or a percentage.

A quick glance at Mileage Plus web site shows:

Business C, D, J, Z 125% 150% 1.5

All other fare classes do not accrue mileage. United Airlines® and Air New Zealand reserve the right to change the eligible fare classes at any time without notice.

There are no carriers I'm aware of which will accrue miles for NZ L class ticket. I've got data on TP, LH, UA, US, ET, A3 and OZ in a tool here: http://www.wandr.me/Tools/Frequent_F...g_Options.aspx.
