Lounge access for 2 guests
Hi, found some similar threads but they are a few years old, so I hope it's OK to start a new one.
Recently achieved A3*G. I will be flying NZ SYD-AKL with my statusless parents and I see that the NZ and SQ lounges are available, apparently the NZ one is better. Could someone advise whether either of these tactics would work: 1. Get both parents into the NZ lounge but not enter myself, then go to the SQ lounge on my own. 2. Guest one into the SQ lounge with me, leave them there and enter NZ with the other. How about on the return from AKL? (Don't worry, I will credit all miles to A3, even my parents' even though they will never make *G.) |
Welcome to Flyertalk!
Option #1 won't work at all. Option #2 might work but you'll basically have one person sitting on their own. Option #3 is to pay the $55 extra for a guest in the Koru Club for up to 4 hours. The lounges are both fine but hardly life-changing IMO. Unless you're at the airport several hours early it might make sense to just go to the gate and fly. On the return there is but the one NZ lounge and you're not likely to get an extra guest in for free. The same $55 option exists here as well. Details on the extra guest fee can be found here: http://www.airnewzealand.com/interna...unge-directory. |

One person on their own is not a problem, so guess we will try Option 2 at SYD then. Since my parents won't want to pay (or want me to pay) $55 in any currency, and you say option 1 won't work, they'll have to flip a coin to decide who gets in on the way back :p Out of interest, is it A$55 in SYD and NZ$55 in AKL? |
Spend $15 in the airport and buy some food. Problem solved.
Or deal with the fact that it is a 3 hour flight and you can eat at the other end. |
Simply fraud

How about on the return from AKL? Welcome to FT ! - hoping you are not a troll. To achieve *G the "cheapest" way with A3 and then trying to defraud the system is a little bit too much :td:. Be advised that SQ lounges in SYD and AKL are always trying to direct non SQ passengers to the Koru Club, which is excellent. The only legal and fair thing to do is to actually pay as suggested by sbm12 for one person to access the Koru Club. P.S.: There are days I wish A3 files for bankruptcy and terminates its discount FFP. With the general situation in Greece there is hope . |
It always amazes me how people try to milk (read defraud) everything they can...

The NZ lounge in SYD is a nice place, but it's nothing special. As mentioned previously, option 2 will most likely work. If you really want your parents to have lounge access, just give your father/mother your BP and *G card and direct them to the lounge - they never check for ID anyway ... (means that you miss out though) |
