I beg to respectfully disagree with ORDnHKG. I have received several OpUps with SK, and once each with LH, LX, and TG. I have even received complimentary upgrades with OS (I think as a gesture because of a delayed flight) and US (because they didn't know how to process the cash upgrade available at the time for UA FFs).

Anyway, given that the OP has disappeared without trace after his one post, what are we all still doing here?

LH's official policy is to upgrade based on the booking class (i.e. fares paid) rather than status including their own top elite.

I am a Air Canada Elite member this year and also. Matmid El Al member. fly to Europe most of time from TLV, in economy. Which mileage partner scheme should I be using for most effective use?

I just got upgraded at the counter at Zadar airport on Croatia Airlines, i did not ask for it as I knew it was not an included perk. I only wished it would happen on LH like that

I just got upgraded on a Lufthansa flight from Business to First Class. Frankfurt --> LAX. No idea exactly why, but it was an awesome surprise and makes me want to fly LH more just for the chance of it happening again! The ticket was a business class D fare. I'm a *Gold, UA Plat.

likely the high fare class in combination with your status. status alone will never get upgrades on LH, unless oversold

Could be many reasons. Perhaps C was overbooked.

You have had your once in a lifetime... Don't expect anything like that happening again soon...

There is usually a comment made in these discussions.. "plan on travelling in your booked cabin and you won't be disappointed"...So true...

Op ups can be very strange and completely unpredictable. My one and only was on CX from J > F travelling on a cheap SQ fare ex MNL.....(I miss that MNL-YVR fare...lol)

I have ZERO OW status... none. I was however travelling solo.....which I suspect is a more important factor than status/fare paid MUCH of the time.....

Got upgraded yesterday as a *G on the WAW-ORD flight. No explanation given, the flight attendend just called me after boarding and handed over my new boarding pass. Load in C/CL was very light

Got upgraded on CA and BR recently from Y to Premium Economy but not C.

I guess that is expected, since their Premium Economy is a separate cabin with added amenity.
