Tips on splitting acruals for one trip
 
Hi All,

I have an upcoming flight as follows:

SIN-ZRH: SQ (M)
ZRH-GVA: LX (V)

then

GVA-ZRH: LX (V)
ZRH-SIN: SQ (M)

I want to credit the SIN-ZRH-SIN to my SQ account and the ZRH-GVA-ZRH on my LX account (mainly because I'm missing a couple of thousand miles on M&M in order to claim for an award ticket and close that M&M account).
Moreover, the domestic flight on LX gives me more miles on LX (500 each way) than on SQ (100% miles flown, which would be far less than the 500 each way).

What's the best way to do this? Remove all FF# from this reservation and present the respective cards at check-in? But then I'd lose visibility of my reservation on SQ.com, correct? Or can I ask my company TA to do all this for me without risking to "screwing" it up?

I know that once, the miles have been credited to company X, it's quite a long way to cancel it and re-credit to company Y. So I wanted to know what's the safest way to ensure all goes as planned? ;)

The safest way is to remove all FF#s from everything now. Do not enter FF#s anywhere until your entire journey is completed. At that point in time, request miles for the segments of interest from the respective airlines.

Mhhh remove everything? and then do a retroclaim? but if there are no FF# on the BPs, does that still work? I was assuming that in order to retroclaim, the FF# would have to be on the BP. :confused:

nothing difficult here, ring them up, and make sure put both numbers in the system. in most GDS system, you can input more than 1 FF number, but you can only specify one FF number to each carrier. So, if you are trying to split the SQ flights to two different programmes, then there is problem, since you are doing SQ to SQ, LX to LX... it is quite straight forward.

Yes, that's what I had in mind. I agree it's extreme, but it guarantees no mess ups.

Nope, FF# not necessary on BP for retroclaim. I know since I've done it before (on both American and Asian airlines).

Well, if this was true how would you ever be able to retroclaim if your FFP number was never attached to your flight reservation? ;)

I'm still wondering... if no FF# is attached, I can still present my *G card at check-in to enjoy the benefits, right? Cuz I will have to check two bags in this trip...

When you present it at check-in chances are that the agent will try to enter your FFP# into the system.

Yeah I'll specifically ask them not to enter anything then...

Mhhh when I asked my company TA to erase all my FF#, she said she could do it for me. So I decided to trust her :D

Fingers crossed that all goes as planned. I'm just scared that a desk agent my do a bit too much by updating the flight data at check-in for example.
