RTW options (cash)

Yes, I would like to use cash for a RTW.

Something like this:

-Calgary
-Warsaw
-Tokyo
-Calgary

in C or F.

Can start/end in Warsaw if the price is lower. :)

Any recommendations?

I will offer tips on AP RTWs in return. ;)

It's too bad the SQ RTW doesn't exist any more. That was an awesome deal in F, even if you had to make your way to/from East/West coast US airports.

SQ RTW is still a pretty good deal although needs creativity to fit your needs.

SQ Metal RTW

Very interesting... I thought it had gone away completely. Of course it is less than entirely attractive due to the surcharges as noted here. The F RTW had none of these IIRC.

short answer is: Forget about a RTW ticket if YYC/WAW/NRT are your only stops, it´s not worth the money. If you had asked a few weeks ago I may have reccommended a RTW ex-CPH, but the fares just increased substantially, the cheapest YRTW now is $3k++ and wouldn´t start in any of the countries you´re intending to visit.

I´d reccommend the following options:

1) any ticket YYC-Europe and a separate, nested ticket Europe-NRT (I´d reccommend LX in booking class H which is reasonably priced and upgrable using AE miles at time of booking)

2) If you really want to do a RTW, look into NZ fares Europe-AKL (most options are LON-AKL). Some of those fares allow a routing via NRT and Canada, e.g. LHR-NRT(VS/LH)-AKL(NZ)-YVR(NZ)-YYC(AC)-LHR(AC)

SQ RTW is being repriced right now. I was just quoted about $7k for J RTW on all SQ metal (no plane type surcharges).

I believe they are also working on F and R pricing as well.

This is BY FAR the best bet for premium class RTW.

What did the *A tool give you?

It's not worth it, but you could do:
YYC-LAX-HND
HND-ICN-FRA/LHR-WAW
WAW-LHR/FRA-YYC

Not sure if this will work with your destinations but it is a great deal in J

I have no idea if this is any good, but for what it's worth:

Check out different countries as starting points. You can save a ton of money by booking through Korea or many African countries (Check Ethiopia, South Africa or South Korea). Just means you have to get to the booking country to start and finish the trip but sometimes the cost of the return flights to starting point end up still saving you significantly than just booking a RTW from Canada/US/Europe

So who can get the most out of an ALL first class itinerary using all segments and stopovers and as close to 39,000 as possible?

If I had 3 months off work and $60K to blow on a trip I would be gone on one of these tomorrow.

I had put together a trip in First with 16 segments @ 38,920 for $25,000 However only 4 segments were actually in first (one SQ A380). So you might as well pay the $10,000 for the business version of the same trip. However my trip looked like some sketchy airlines. I'm sure someone here could plan the best planes, seats, lounges and experience. Would be curious to see what it would look like.
