Quick Connection in Sydney UA to SQ
 

Later this year I'll be flying from LAX to SYD on United and then connecting to SIN on Singapore Airlines and I'm worried about my connection time. My flight on UA is scheduled to arrive in SYD at 7:50am and the SQ flight is scheduled to depart at 9:05am. If we land on time, I feel like 75 minutes might be enough time for both bags and passengers to switch planes, but what if we are delayed coming out of LAX or along the way?

Has anybody had experience with this connection? I can't decide if the long (14 hour) flight helps or hurts our chances of being on time.

I have taken the UA LAX/SFO-SYD 5 or 6 times. It has generally been early or on time in my recollection. The only time we were late was due to the fact that we had burned additional fuel and were arriving early - I believe that SYD does not allow traffic to come in before 6:30, so we were that early - and we had to stop in Brisbane to refuel as they had overconsumed (at least this is the story we were given). That little tour made us 30 mins late.

Couldn't you go LAX-SIN direct?

Thanks for your input, glad to hear that it probably won't be a problem. I guess worst case scenario, I'd just get booked on the next flight out, but was curious about the connection time.

As for the direct flight, this is an award ticket, so not quite as much flexibility if I want to book business/first tickets. I will keep an eye things as we get closer to see if a more direct rout opens up.

If this is all on the same itinerary, you should be fine. If you had to re-check-in then you might not make it...
