*A MR Help
Hello to all the FT experts!!
Sorry for double posting, but i posted in MR discussion forum, i thought that would be the best place for it, but didn't get a single reply.... so trying my luck here.. Im in NZ based Flyer, and my flying plan for 2012 doesn't look too great, i am starting to think about a MR run somewhere over a weekend or something. Just trying to build some miles and visiting random places. I will be on a trip to China in May/June will stop in SIN, PVG and PEK. So a MR ex any of those 3 cities as well as NZ will be great, as you may know the poor earning rate on NZ makes MR very expensive for us ex NZ pax. I have done a bit of research, i can't get any thing less than 8 US cent/mile.. Please, can some one offer some good options on such MRs... I will be crediting them to OZ.. Thanks 123dd |

You're in the wrong forum. Your original placement in the MR Discussion is the right place. But anyways, I give up... |
The problem with Australia and New Zealand is that we pay a fortune for our airfares. Take a business class fare out of MEL to BKK. On TG I would be paying up to $4000, whilst the same ticket in reverse through another port in Asia will cost approx $2000. If you are traveling overseas, price a fare home to NZ from the ports you will visit. To give you an example, we are doing business in Cambodia, it became obvious I could buy a VN return ticket in Cambodia in business for $1800 and credit it to QF or GA, both accounts I needed to upgrade. Also I could buy a business class Thai ticket out Phnom Penh to MEL for $2175. There are many perks out there once you delve into it. I always start with the airport departures thread, I see what's leaving and where to, often you will pick up a odd carrier you can use for a sector. Unable to help you with a NZ run

Most of the discussion focuses on MR's TO those places, not FROM those places. That's just the geographic reality of the majority of the population of this board.
Try the Kayak Explore tool. Plug in your departure cities and see what fares pop up. |
