Possible to book different fare class?
Hey everyone,
First, I'm not positive this is the right place to post this, if it isn't, my apologies! I'm looking to a book a flight from SFO-MUC (and then MAD-SFO) and it has been $935 on LH/CO. Just checked again and it dropped to $855, great! Erm, except that it is fare class K on LH which means that I won't get any miles from United (right?). I'd be quite happy to pay a little more (like the first price I was seeing, $935) in order to get those miles. Is it possible? Would I have to contact a real travel agent? Or is this just a sale and I have to hope that when it ends the price doesn't soar but goes back to a milage-bearing fare? Thanks in advance, everyone! |
Welcome to FT, alai!
Some sites allow you to specify the fare class (like continental.com), but if that doesn't work for you, the best way to get a specific fare class is to call the airline or book through an agent. |

I'm guessing since this is a complicated trip (SFO-MUC on LH then MAD-FRA-SFO on SpainAir and then codeshared United [it's actually weird, the flight is operated by UA but I can only find CO and LH codeshares]) that I just won't be able to do it without using a real travel agent... which would probably end up making it significantly more expensive anyway. I'm thinking I may just need to wait a week or two and hope the sale ends. If I'm reading the fare rules correctly I think it ends on Nov 2. |
I wouldn't assume a TA booking would necessarily be more expensive!
It MAY be.. but without checking.. how can you know? I realise I am Down Under (and the situation may be different where you are) BUT the only bookings my TA charges a "fee" for are domestic USA flights... My "usual" multi stop international itineraries -booked through the TA as I simply can NOT book them anywhere myself - always price at (or with very small variance from) the prices I find on ITA... Can't hurt to simply ask! |
