FFP Newbie
I'm pretty young and my family never traveled much, so I have a lot of questions about *A.
First, I'm looking for a program that lets me upgrade from economy to business class on international flights (I'm based out of LAX). Second, I'm looking for a program where my miles can be earned through credit card purchases, as I don't fly enough to accumulate miles through travel. Third, though I want to use my miles for international upgrades, I feel like it would be better to join a *A US carrier (because I fly domestically more than internationally, and they have more mileage based credit cards available) such as United/Continental/Delta. My question is, if I earn 100k miles on Delta's ffp, can I redeem those for an upgrade on Singapore Airlines, or Asiana? I understand that this only works for certain booking classes, but I'm having trouble finding a simple, concise answer to this (maybe there isn't one). AS PVDtoDEL notes you can't use DL miles to update on SQ and OZ. DL is Skyteam not *A.
