Thanks for the nice overview. ^

The SYD/MEL-DUD flights are only seasonal and don't operate at the moment. But ROT is flown direct from SYD. Also the flights between SYD and MEL are not bookable without flying UA across the Pacific.

And if one wants to be very picky, there is one other Australian airport served by *A: NLK.

Great Thread. Thank you very much!!

Potential additions: AI to MEL, & TK to SYD but sadly neither has been confirmed.

just a question

I am *G and flew SQ out of SYD last month. I went to the NZ lounge and they wouldn't let me in and said I had to use the SQ lounge for SQ flights, even with my *G card.

Another question, do people prefer the SQ or NZ lounge at SYD in any case?

It all really depends on what time you fly, because I believe all *A carriers not operating lounges are all contracted to NZ, while SQ has their own lounge. It also depends if the lounge dragon wants to let you in or not. If your *G, NZ should have let you in regardless, because by *A rules, you are entitled to use it with 1 guest.

The NZ lounge IMO is heaps better than Silver Kris.

RE: SQ F/J boarding pass, you are only permitted to use the SQ Lounge, NZ will not let you in, many people have tried. Although sometimes UA might let you in their RCC at MEL.

Never had a problem entering the NZ lounge just with an SQ J boarding pass. Or with an SQ Y boarding pass and *G card.

If you can, try both. However, IMHO the NZ lounge is the nicer lounge. In fact, many people here will say it is (among) the nicest *G lounge(s) worldwide.

In SYD When flying TG F,
I find the QG F lounge much nicer than the NZ lounge.
its small but nice food and never anyone in there so nice and private.
The lounge dragons in the SQ lounge always point me to the NZ lounge but I point out that I can access any *F lounge:cool: and they-
say go ahead.

cbourl Jun 19, 2011 4:44 am

Is the F section in the SQ lounge separate from the C section? If so is it worth it? Ive found the SQ lounge in Syndey poor - ...... showers which mist you rather than rinse you and poor food/bevvvies - i always have to point out its a Star Gold lounge to the SQ dragons and then enter - the NZ lounge is much better and much busier
As for Melbourne is the SQ lounge outfitted with a separate F section? Have a few hours to kill in a few weeks and thought Id chk it out - what about the NZ lounge? Is it worth a visit?

Rebound Jun 19, 2011 11:08 pm

Never been allowed into the SQ Lounge at SYD on an NZ Ticket / *G - however i was allowed into MEL once when I tried last month. They reluctantly let me in only for 20 minutes as then the last SQ Flight was departing, at that point i went to the NZ Lounge.

Both NZ SYD and MEL Lounges are far superior to the Silver Kris Lounges. Can't speak for the First Class Section though.

Silver Kris at MEL is fitted with 2 sections, R & F Section and a C Section, although they both use the same entrance. The NZ lounge is far better than the SQ Lounge, I think it's time SQ refurbished! You might also want to try UA's Red Carpet Club at MEL, although nothing in comparison to NZ. NZ can get crowded as TG & CA use the lounge and other *G pax.

If only SQ or UA did a QF F style lounge like the one at MEL, it would be great.
