*A interline baggage transfer
Hello,
I would like to know if I can check luggage all the way through if my flights were booked separately but with *A members, Air Canada and Austrian Airline. Information: Air Canada: Montreal->Frankfurt, arrive 6:30am Austrian Airline: Frankfurt->Dubrovnik, depart 7:50am I called the Air Canada Reservation line and was told no, I'd have to collect my luggage and re-check it. I would like some experienced travellers to confirm this as the rep seemed distracted. The ACRes rep also confirmed that I will not need to go through customs in FRA after collecting my luggage. I most certainly thought I would! Is the baggage carousel not located outside the "transfer zone" at FRA? If I DO need to go through customs, is it likely that I will miss my 7:50am departure? Thank you to anyone who can help!! |

Thank you to anyone who can help!! You're asking for trouble at FRA with a short connection on separate PNRs like that. If AC won't check through your bag(s), then I suggest you find a later OS flight. You will have to collect your bags and then re-check landside. And it is very likely you will miss your connection. If you book the itinerary on one PNR then your bag(s) will be checked through to Dubrovnik and you can just transfer. Yes, you most certainly can check the luggage through, as long as the connection meets
the legal minimum connection time. AC and OS do have interline agreements. |
Thank you both for your help! I got the Austrian ticket for a steal but it's not refundable and I'm still trying to figure out if I can make any changes (it's not likely) so hopefully I can check my luggage all the way through or I think I'll be out $. Thanks again and I'll re-post in July with the final outcome so others know.
I've been told it can sometimes be as simple as the who you deal with at check in. Some agents will connect your luggage for you, others will not. We shall see... |
You should be OK, according to KVS:
[KVS Availability Tool 6.1.6/Diamond - Reference: Minimum Connection Time [MCT]: FRA/AC-OS] Code:
