Different strokes for different people I guess. |
CO will book it for 35K in Y or 50K in C. I just booked PER-AKL-MEL//SYD-AKL-PER with an overnight in AKL (but less than a stopover, though it should still be permitted per the rules). It was 50K points in C and $131.27 in taxes.
It does not price naturally in their systems so after I fed the agent the flight numbers (and the airport code for Perth ) and she found the seats that I had found on ANA she then had to put me on hold to call the rate desk and get the ticket stored and priced. Total time on the phone was just under 40 minutes. |
United fly a 747 from mel-syd/syd-mel daily. It is basically empty in the better classes.

And OP still did not say which FFP he/she is in... So most of the answers here are purely theoretical, if not even hypothetical...

BMI award books it. I am not risking it to find out.
