LH to TG at CDG

Checked in for my flight ex-US on LH. BPs were issued as far as CDG.

Will TG in FRA be able to issue CDG-BKK or will I need to get take care of this in CDG? If the latter, is there a transfer desk? Will I need to head into the main check-in area?

Thanks for the info.

Hi dsquared, if LH issued BP for US-fra-cdg, what will happen is the transfer desk at T1 will issue the CDG-BKK-?. There is no need to go into the main area there is a desk airside (not a TG desk). This is a great flight, it goes down in my experience as one of the best, hope you enjoy it as much as I have, last trip they had the heavy blanklet, depends what you like. The *A lounge at CDG is not all that bad

I don't recall if TG have a seperate transfer desk in FRA. They may leave it for their designated agent (probably LH). Also, depending on your flight times it might be that there are no TG staff on hand in FRA as they have an early afternoon flight and then nothing until the evening and won't be expecting passengers outside of this window normally.

I did once ask LH if they could issue my TG boarding pass in FRA, but they said that they could not as it was a different system which they used.

There is no TG in FRA - they are handled by FRAport (handling agent) and not even by LH - there is no TG transfer desk. You may approach TG gate (should be open 60 minutes prior to TG flight departure) or TG dedicated check-in counters (open 180 minutes prior to departure) and double check, but I guess FRAport agent will not be able to issue a BP ex CDG. IIRC at CDG T1 they are handled by AF (or AF subsidiary as these folks do not wear AF uniforms, but on the transfer info panel they are listed as handled by AF).

Just an update on what transpired.

Did online check-in while in FRA and the FCT/FCL staff printed it out the online confirmation. I felt better once i was checked in with documentation.

Upon arrival in CDG I fought my way out of the arrival satellite (what a mad house) and found myself at passport check before I could get to the *A lounge. The attendant accepted the check-in printout and stamped my passport out of Schengen.

The lounge let me in and said to be at the gate an hour before departure time, where I was able to get my BPs.

The 77W was indeed nice. Loved the stars on the ceiling in F. Should have sat in 1A rather than 1K as it would have afforded me a great view of the Himalaya. Next time.

Still not sure why I couldn't get BPs for all flights (LH and TG) on one itin. Especially as it was no problem sending my bags all the way through.

I am glad you have made it! CDG is a madhouse... I thought CDG T1 would improve as it is now almost a *A facility, but unfortunately I do not see that much improvement...

This might be a little off topic, but CDG was a place I swore quickly to never again enter. A thought later mitigated by the flight and the desire to take this a/c again.

We have been saying the same for years, never again, then we fell in love with the 77W. Whilst SQ want 2 million miles for an award in their suites on the A380, we will happily pay our TG miles and travel on this beautiful plane. Paris which we used to do two, maybe three times a year, now has become the transit point also. Loved those stars, and yes 1A is good:)

DSquared- i am going on my honeymoon in March and am trying to decide if i want to do the same itinerary in F (ORD-FRA-CDG-BKK) or do the more direct (ORD-FRA-BKK). do you think when all is said and done, it was worth going to CDG to be on the 77W as opposed to the 744? They both get in to BKK at the same time and we have ample time once we get to FRA. Having done it, what do you recommend?

thanks for your help!

The itinerary afforded me access to the FCL in FRA and a much nicer plane in the 77W, so yes i would recommend it.
