Lounge questions
Hey guys,
I just looked at my Itinerary for December and see that my partner and I will be in ORD for 6 hours. We are flying in First on Swiss and we start in MCO (we could only get coach on this leg as we used miles to book the trip) I just want to check... Can we use the Red Carpet club in MCO with our 'F' Boarding passes for the flight from ORD - ZRH? It is on the same day. But my main concern is the lounges in ORD, apparently the Swiss First Class lounge isn't that great and I really don't feel like spending that long in a crappy lounge. So with our Swiss F boarding card can we get into any other Lounges at ORD. We aren't *G, so we are totally relying on our F boarding passes. We then go onto FRA and get on the A380 to JNB in F on LH! So we will definatley do the First Class Terminal while there! :p |
You may want to check at:
http://www.swiss.com/web/EN/services...98&Country=ROW It seems that without *G there is no lounge for you at MCO and only the Swiss Lounge at ORD. The Red Carpet Clubs to my knowledge are United Airlines plus *G only. Enjoy the FCT in Frankfurt and your trip on the A380.;) |
Not sure about your predicament in MCO, however you should be able to gain access to lounges with an F BP even if not *G. You should be able to use the UA IFL in ORD.

As I understand it you are boarding at MCO with an economy class boarding pass and no *A status, hence you have no lounge privileges.
At ORD you will board with a First Class boarding pass and therefore will have a number of options. There is a lounge finder utility on the Star Alliance website – punch in your travelling class, *A membership and status, paid lounge membership and it will spit out the lounges available to you : http://www.staralliance.com/en/benef...lounge-finder/ At ORD it would appear you can enter the Swiss First and Business lounges, SAS Business, or any of the RCC. |

Not even with the same-day F boarding pass?
# Customer must present a boarding card for the same day travel in international First Class on a Star Alliance flight # Customer must be departing from the local airport in International First Class That being said, if you are on UA all the way through for PDX-SEA-NRT you are entitled to access to the PDX RCC (not really worth all that much, IMO; the PDX terminal has free wifi and is nice enough) based on UA policies as I understand them, but not on *A policy. |
Thanks!
Thanks for the replies, So when I put into the Star Alliance Lounge finder that I will be departing ORD - ZRH in F it says I can use the UA F class lounge, Swiss F class lounge United RCC or the SAS lounge. So I am quite excited about that because I would want a shower before getting on the plane.
I misunderstood the lounge situation in MCO as when I went onto UA's website it said that in order to gain entry into the lounge you needed to present a same day F Class boarding pass on a *A flight, So I thought that with our Swiss F boarding pass we would be allowed in at MCO. But as someone else stated above if you read closer it says you have to be departing from that specific airport. Now the question is which of the lounges in ORD is the Best? :p |

I don't believe any of the lounges @ ORD have showers.
Since the OP will be in ORD for 6 hours, I suggest that s/he first try the IFL. In fact, the LX lounges might not even be open that much in advance of the LX flight. (Which might be useful information to have in case the IFL lounge personnel attempt to shoo the poster away.) I would also to get into the MCO RCC with the F tickets. The worst that could happen is that they say no. |

I'm really glad that the IFL has showers because I always shower in the lounge before an International flight, helps me relax and just enjoy the flight a whole lot more! Now my info may be out of date as it's been a couple of years since I flew back from ORD on an non US based carrier.
The international airlines used to depart from T5 whereas the US carriers departed from their own terminals. This meant that BA, LX and SK etc provided their own lounges within the extremely sparce and boring space that T5 was/is. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there is no way that you can check in for LX then go to another terminal to get access to CO, US or UA's lounges....... |
Showers?
I just looked on the Star Alliance Lounge finder for ORD and if you look at the symbols which indicate the facilities that each lounge has the only one that even indicates showers is the Swiss Business and First Lounge? I thought they didn't have showers? I would be pleasantly surprised if they did though... Anyone know for sure?

When I called Swiss for seat assignments last night I asked if the lounges in ORD had showers and the answer was a 'no' so the info on the Star Alliance Lounge finder page is incorrect. |
