Which *FFP allows date changes on partner award flights?

Hi gurus,

I should look this up myself through each program but your collective intelligence undoubtly outshines the insignifcant substance between my ears so help me here. Can you tell me which Star Alliance program allows date changes (for free, if possible) on partner airline award tickets? For example, UA allows date changes on UA metal award flights, but not on partner airlines.

Many thanks in advance,

silver

US Dividend miles = $250
BD Diamond club = £20 ($31)
SQ Krisflyer = $20
LH,LX etc M&M = 50EUR ($66)
CO Onepass = Free up until 21days before departure + $75USD after (less if you have status)

I am far from a guru on these questions, but to the list above you can add;

AC Aeroplan - $90 CDN plus taxes

Also, I don't think it is completely correct to say that UA does not allow date changes on partner awards. It is my understanding that you can make date changes to partner awards booked with Mileage Plus miles before departure. After departure you can only make date changes to UA metal segments.

If you change a DC reward prior to it being ticketed (any carrier) then they will normally do this free, sometimes a bit of gentle persuasion is required. Its worth noting that the fee is per pax, not per booking i.e. 4 x pax on 1 reservation = £80 fee. Changes can be made up to day of travel but no changes on return trip are permitted once travel has commenced if the booking is a return trip. One way redemptions are of course the preference of DC members to avoid this.

TG- ROP was free the last time I used an award a couple of years ago...and it works even after you have flown outbound on a return ticket.

BD - Diamond Club does not permit changes once travel has commenced.
AC - Same as above
UA - Same as above

LH - allows changes for fee (varies depending on where your account is based) - either US$60 or Euro 40.

However, if the routing works, UA will allow you change the rest of your itinerary to UA metal and then make changes.

AC does actually allow changes on *A awards once travel has commenced...but it must follow the same routing.

I think this is EUR 50 now.

You are right. I have made changes to a UA award iten that included UA, LH and LX for no charge. I had to do it before the trip started. And also, I could only change dates, not the route/cities. That requires a fee as you have to actually cancel the award ticket and have them reissued for the new route.

No changes allowed, even for a fee, once your trip has started.

Thank you all. This is really helpful. In fact, knowing that UA allows date changes before departure is very useful. NH doesn't allow that (although they allow the inbound leg to be changed; i.e. they don't allow the outbound leg to be changed. In order to do so you have to cancel the award ticket itself with 3,000 miles and they don't give you the option to pay cash for that).
