Need some recommendations for SIN-NYC redemption
 

Hi all,

I'm quite new to this redemption business, so do bear with me.

Here's the issue. I am trying to redeem for 2 tickets to NY from SIN in early November, and hoping to maximise all the miles that my gf and I have (not a whole lot). All the more better if we can get a stopover in Japan for a side trip.

Any suggestions would be most appreciated.

This is what we have right now:

I have:
- about 50000 miles on UA
- another 47000 points on Citibank's Premiermiles card (redeemable 1-to-1 on Krisflyer, TG, Worldperks)

She has:
- about 50000 miles on Krisflyer
- another 177000 points on a Maybank credit card that can be redeemed for either (i) 70873 Krisflyer miles or (ii) S$886 in cash
(which brings her up to possibly 120000 Krisflyer miles in total)

Will the best bet be for us to:
1. Redeem 2 Economy (or 1 Economy + 1 Biz) SIN-NRT on UA with the 50000 UA miles; and
2. Redeem 2 Economy NRT-NYC on SQ with 130000 Krisflyer miles (need to purchase another 10000 miles with US$400)

Any other options? Can I redeem UA biz class with the Krisflyer miles, say NRT-NYC?
