Help needed with *A RTW booking tool
 

Can someone explain to me what a "segment" is when using the online RTW booking tool. Does a segment equal the number of flights needed to get to the destination?

For example, one of my legs is Sydney to Bali (SYD-DPS). This requires the use of 3 segments, yet it requires only 2 flights (SYD-SIN, SIN-DPS).

A segment is either a flight or a land segment, this also applies to airport-airport transfers within the same city.

Your two flights should indeed only count as two segments, however it might have to do with the segments before or after these two destinations. It would be helpful to see your full routing.

that you are arriving from one airport in a city and leaving from another (which costs you a segment)

can i ask a frank question - have you considered flying into asia and then using a budget carrier to get you around the region.

It seems like you are using a lot of stops/taxes to get to somewhere that might be cheaper through a LCC

once you get to bali - you stil need to fly back out again - using another stop before you can even get anywhere else useful

just a thought ;)
