Lounge @ ORD

Does anyone know if they allow relatives of a *G to go into the lounge even though they aren't travelling with them? I'm a *S and I'm going to be at ORD for 6 hours for a connection but don't want wandering around the airport. I know this is a stupid question but just seeing if it's possible.

If you're not travelling Star Alliance that day from ORD, as per rules, the answer is no. Star Gold pax are entitled to give access to one guest.

Anyway, you could always ask for an exception (but don't take your breath about it).

*S does not get lounge access, only *G when traveling internationally. If you were *G, you would be allowed one guest, who can be flying on any *A flight (not necessarily the one you are on).

As long as you are both traveling on a *A flight (doesn't have to be the same one) the *G member will be able to guest you in. You don't even need to be related.
By the way, the RCC is okay but it is still a RCC.

TSA will not let them through security.

If they would like to purchase the lowest available fare to a nearby destination (MKE? DTW? CLE?), pass through security and then no-show, both you and they need to be on UAL/ANA/LH departing from T1 (no domestic flights ex T5). I guess you will be better off inviting them for lunch at ORD Hilton:D:D:D And FYI... RCC is fairy terrible, so take them to the Hilton:p

Well, you certainly could purchase a short destination ticket and use it to get through security, but there are easier ways!

Just go to the ticket counter (they might be able to do this in the lounge service counter too) and ask them if they will issue a courtesy pass for your guest to get through security. No guarantees, but some carriers will do this.

The way I am interpreting the OP's question is that the OP is *S but he has relative who is *G, and the OP is asking if he can access the RCC when his *G relative is not traveling with him.

The answer is no. The *G member has to be present to sponsor a guest into the RCC. The *G member and guest do not have to be on the same departing flight, however.

Actually, most *Gs get lounge access with any flight, domestic or international. The exception is members of American programmes (US & UA) who are not allowed in when flying domestic routes in America.

cheers,

Henry

Welcome to FT, copter808!

Another alternative is to buy a full fare refundable ticket, go through security and then change your mind and get a full refund. Not advisable, but a theoretical option.

Yeah LA_Traveler is understanding what I said correctly. My bad guys for not wording the sentence better. But thanks for the replies and I guess I can't go to the lounge then. :(

Well, you might check this thread below in the UA forum and see if another FT'er can sponsor you into the RCC as guest:

Good luck :)

So its possible for a *G from AC to get into a RCC or Admirals Club
if flying domestically in the US?
I am looking in a few threads and the message is not clear.
