5-Star Resort near Barcelona?
 

Any tips on a 5-Star resort near Barcelona on the Mediterranean coast? I am having no luck on my internet search. Perhaps a recommendation from someone based upon personal experience.

We are staying at the Hostal de la Gavina in July, north of Barcelona on the Costa Brava. It looks very old-World luxurious & all reports I've read have been good. We have a seaview suite booked. I'll be able to let you know more early August!

I assume you mean the Costa Brava region which is close by. Here is one.

I have stayed at the Ritz Carlton (Hotel Arts) in Barcelona on numerous occasions. It is right on the coast but is a high rise opposed to a low-rise, beach style resort, with a casino right next door (access across from valet parking).

The pool is rather small, but with the meditteranean 100ft away, who needs a pool?!?

I would recommend the Parador at Aiguablava. Most of the paradores are very good - I would say they are the best way to visit Spain - why come to Barcelona and stay at another "xxx" international hotel chain - I mean, similar to the ones from other countries... Granted, they are not in the cities, but it is the best way to live an experience if you are travelling through spain...

I stayed here for part of my honeymoon. The suites are very good, wiht private spa (jacuzzi), amazing view, balcony overlooking the med. The experience overall was good. Service is not 5*, but location, rooms, ammenities, etc, are close. There is a walking distance beach which is excellent (not very crowded, very beautiful). Location is right in Costa Brava, some 1.5 hours from Barcelona, with wonderful fishing towns nearby, etc. Again highly recommended. Any questions pm me.
