Valencia restaurants

I'm going to be in Valencia for the marathon a week on Sunday and am looking for a restaurant for dinner on the Sunday evening but finding that a lot of places are closed. Anyone got any recommendations for somewhere that will actually be open?

Thanks for this. The other participants in my group have for some odd reason decided that they are not going to be awake for dinner so we're now aiming for a late lunch which opens up a bunch of other opportunities.

Where in Valencia are you staying, and would you want modern or traditional food? Just one word of caution; if you wanted a paella lunch for this Sunday you may need to book Weds / Thurs for the most popular places (and this booking may involve a phone call)

I think we're sorted now. There's a disparate group of us staying all over the place. Some (including me) are running on Sunday, some are there to support/spectate/do other stuff. We have paella booked for Saturday afternoon (need carbs) and ended up booking the restaurant recommended by spainlover for Sunday.
Just need the weather to behave on Sunday morning - probably first time I've ever visited Spain hoping for cool temps!

I'm glad you have found a good spot! If people want to find more casual places for Sunday night and are relatively central then I'd recommend walking into Russafa as there are plenty of casual places to eat and drink around there (along calle Sueca, Cádiz, Literat Azorin and close to the market), plus Mercat de Colón could be another option. Sunday evenings do tend to be quieter as most people take a long Sunday lunch.

Good luck with the marathon!

It's the time they eat at that's the thing.. It's not really that odd not being awake, when I was there restaurants thought we were nuts showing up before 830,9pm. I know travelling now with a toddler, that guy is definitely going to be in bed for 9, so his mother will join him. It's a real pain trying to find food at a north American dinner time(5-7)

Late night dinners not really an issue - it was the 26.2 miles beforehand that were potentially going to be problematic......

Usually when a foreigner says they're booking a "late lunch" it means it's right in the middle of lunch rush. Especially on a Sunday
