Gibraltar/Spain border control
I have 20 days holiday in May from 24 May...
Due current leaks looks like GIB will be green and 7 other countries... https://www.thesun.co.uk/travel/1468...es-green-list/ So my plan is go to US but now I must be outside EU/UK for 14 days to enter US which this trip is in big when they open for UK ? My backup plan is to abandon trip to US and go to Portugal/Spain/Gibraltar already booked one way from GIB to LHR. I wonder how is situation on GIB/Spain border is it passport checks? I can "quarantine to be green" in GIB for 10 nights but if border is open... almost anybody can fly to LHR from GIB And what about passport controls at GIB now entering by plane and departure? EU agreed to GIB be in Schengen zone so is it already no border checks to/from Spain |
I don't believe the agreement to get GIB in to Schengen has been implemented yet so there should still be checks between GIB and ES.
For non ES/EU citizens you can only enter ES atm if you have residency there. I don't understand how you intend to get from GIB to the US without transiting UK or a Schengen country? Any transit of these within the last 14 days will prevent you entering the US on an ESTA. (EDIT: or are you also expecting the US to lift the ban at least for UK and GIB?) |
I wouldn’t read anything into tabloids speculating on the travel corridors / traffic light system. Only a week ago a load of different countries were speculated, not matching these! I do agree very much that GIB will feature though

I have EU passport so I can enter Schengen zone,
my GIB trip is only then I cannot go to US |
Aha, I see. Apologies I thought the GIB trip was to precede going to the US.
In that case yes it is fairly likely GIB would be green. However I suspect Spain and Portugal may be amber so if you return to the UK within 10 days of being in either country you will have to comply with the restrictions for amber countries in the UK. |

I have also normal US tourist visa (not ESTA) is it some difference to enter with this visa now? or still if 14 days in EU then sorry You not allowed? |

You can still currently only enter (with ESTA or visa) if you can adhere to the NIE rules which have been revised and now do not include visits of financial importance to the US so if ‘essential’ travel restrictions are being tightened I can’t see tourist restrictions relaxing but as we have seen over the last year anythIng can and will happen and it’s a month before the middle of may if I was a gambling man I’d say GIB would be green so subject to the restrictions in place. I’d expect border controls to be in place to Spain at Gibraltar and of course hope that you don’t get a divert to Malaga that could scupper any plans if Spain is in a different zone. |

I quite like GIB, but the idea of spending a full holiday there seems pretty boring to me. When they call it the rock, that is for a reason...

From what I can tell The Sun's sources are literally just the Robert Boyle modelling piece that was published a few days ago as the list appears to be exactly the same! I don't think we'll know for a few weeks yet where is likely to be green but I tend to agree that if anywhere is green, GIB will be.
Robert’s piece looked like a solid piece of analysis but ultimately these are going to be political decisions based on the advice of officials within the framework. The same thing that is playing out with the red-listing, or not, of India. I’m not sure yet we have any insight yet into how they are thinking. |

It’s a great place to fly from as one might want to watch your aircraft coming in before the turnaround. I thought I’d make it a bit BA relevant! :D |

I think I'll leave it there while there's some ambiguity... |
