Car Rental at LIS - Xmas Eve pickup/NYD return
 

Hi there - I'm arriving at LIS around 11am on Christmas Eve, and my return flight is (regrettably) a very early 7:15am departure on New Years Day. Does anyone have experience with picking up/dropping off rental cars during these times? Should I count on the counters being closed at this time? I'd be renting from Hertz most likely but I'd imagine all of the companies might follow the same holiday schedule. Thanks for any help!

Rental car companies AT THE AIRPORT will be open both days using Sunday/Holiday business hours.
If you're overnighting in Lisbon, I'd suggest returning the car the night before and ubering to the airport on the day of to avoid the hassle of returning the car very early in the morning.

Otherwise give yourself a bit of time to return the car.

Great, thank you Palal! Yes we may explore the option of returning it the night before or maybe on the 30th to avoid the holiday hours completely. I really only want it for driving to the Algarve for the first part of the trip and maybe for a day trip to Sintra. Probably more hassle than it's worth once we get to the "Lisbon-only" part to end our trip on.

I would strongly discourage you from having a car in Lisbon due to the hassle of parking. Uber/Bolt/Kapten are all quite cheap.
