Restaurants next to MAD decent ? Family travel 2 night layover
 

Taking the family next week to MAD and CDG (Disney).

They have never been in Spain nor France so I wanted a positive first meal in Madrid.
2 night layover in MAD for a taste of Spain....
Landing late afternoon at MAD and staying at the Crowne Plaza hotel (using IHG points) which was the only one that had a suite available.

IF you had to choose something nearby, would you dine at any of the nearby airport restaurants for an authentic Spanish meal ?

I could shuttle everyone over to the city center but I was planning on doing that the next day after some needed rest.

I am not sure there is anything decent in the surroundings of the airport, to be honest. Given how quickly you can get into the center (just 15-20mins drive, tops), I would definitely do that as opposed to have lunch or dinner anywhere else near the aiport.

Just as an example - you could head to the Ventas / Manuel Becerra area which has many local/authetic places you could go to. Way better than staying near the airport. Happy to give you one/two specific places, if needed.

I would love some spots for a family authentic Spanish style restaurants.
So it does look like we will venture out from the airport via train to Madrid.

Here are two recommendations, not too far from the above area (as discussed, easily reachable by Uber or Spanish Uber "Cabify" - both should be 15EUR or so from your hotel). If you take the airport bus to Avenida de America (if you are a family, better and probably cheaper to get uber/cabify instead) beware of pickpockets in the airport bus.

- Restaurante Canadio. Conde de Penalver 86, Madrid. This place is quite good, more seating down style as opposed to informal/standing tapas bars. Perhaps a tad pricier than the average Spanish place but you get great quality.
- El Rincon de Jaen. Doctor Gomez Ulla 6. This one is more informal (and cheaper) but has both standing style kegs with stools as well a few tables in the back where you can sit down.

NB: Not sure how well they will be able to speak English to you, particularly in the second place. There may or may not be English menus available so if you have some knowledge of Spanish, that would help.

Looked up both places on Yelp.com and found El Rincon de Jaen a better choice- they have 2 exact same restaurants across the street from each other.

We are looking forward to having our first meal in Madrid upon landing!
