Hiking Caminito del Rey (Malaga, Spain)

We visited Spain last November and this one of the highlights of our trip.
First step is to book tickets online, for the Caminito and the feeder bus one way ( total €11.55), book the walk for 1.30 or 2 pm and aim to dawdle along.
Book the train online- 10 am train from Maria Zambrano Station in Malaga to El Chorro and book 6 pm return train from El Chorro to Malaga ( total just over €10) This is a marvellous thing to do. Now the walk has been refurbished most people of moderate fitness can do it. It involves a walk of around 7 km. The boardwalk is only about 1 metre wide in places. At other times the gorge opens out and you can walk on trodden earth footpaths through wonderful scenery. The latter part of the walk is really spectacular and there are plenty of pics on the net to show just how spectacular. The only words of warning that I would give are that if you have a fear of heights or are claustrophobic then investigate carefully before setting out.
This is a must if you love hiking. I attached some pictures.

Hi! The Caminito del Rey is a beautiful natural site in Malaga. It is a thrilling path that is unique and rises to 328 feet in height - most of the route consists of hanging walkways attached to the rock walls.

We recommend:

- Buying your ticket - due to high demand, it is advisable to reserve them as soon as possible. So if you don't want to miss out - you should plan in advance.

- Arrive by train or car - The Caminito del Rey is located in the Gorge of Los Gaitanes. You can access this place by car without difficulty (starting from Malaga, take the A-357 road, then take the MA-5403, which leads to El Chorro).
From Ronda, take the A-367 and the MA-5403. While from Antequera, take the A-384 towards Campillos and then continue along the A-357 and the MA-451. You will see beautiful landscapes !
Another option is to take the train to El Chorro station in Alora. But whether by car or rail, the final stretch to the Caminito del Rey should be done by foot.

- Travel with sufficient time. Do not forget to bring water to hydrate, sunscreen and snacks. Clothing should be comfortable and footwear appropriate for hiking. And remember: inside the Caminito del Rey (as could not be otherwise) there are no toilets.

- The path of the Caminito del Rey, almost 5 miles long. Once the visit is over, you have to return to the starting point on foot or by shuttle bus.

- There is a point of information, a car park, a cafeteria and a shop

- Anyone older than 8 years can do the Caminito del Rey, without needing physical preparation. As long as you dare to face the impressive views from the walkways anchored to the vertical rock and to pass through the suspension bridge with the void beneath your feet, you will have a fun and thrilling time!

We hope that helped!!
