Pocket/portable Wifi in Portugal and Spain
 

Can anyone recommend how/where to rent pocket/portable Wifi for 5 days in Portugal (mostly in Lisbon and Fatima) and 10 days in Spain (Barcelona, Madrid and Seville). We will be traveling by plane and arriving at Lisbon airport, then 5 days later flying from Lisbon to Barcelona airport.

I found the following and their prices seem ok:
- Portugal: https://www.portugalinternet.com/ for 30 EUR total for 5 days, or 6 EUR per day. Can be picked up at the LIS airport or delivered to hotel. They use mobile networks from Vodafone and NOS. Unlimited internet, 99% in 3G and 80% in 4G.
- Spain: https://www.spaininternet.net/ for 59 EUR for 10 days, or 5.9 EUR per day. Device can be picked up at the BCN airport or delivered to hotel. They use mobile networks from Orange. 4GB/day, mostly 4G in any city or sizeable village.

Are they recommended to use? What is other alternative? We need to be able to connect at least 4 devices and don't want to risk relying free wifi from stores or shops.

Do you have a phone that you can turn into a hotspot? If so, just buy a local SIM card with enough data for you and use that instead.

Thanks Palal for the suggestion. Yes, I have an unlocked iphone that I can use as a hotspot for the other devices. As a comparison, the same companies are charging as follows:
- 25 EUR (5 EUR/day) with unlimited data for 5 days in Portugal and
- 40 EUR (4 EUR/day) with 2GB data per day for 10 days in Spain.

Total is cheaper then renting the pocket wifi devices from them. I still have to return the SIM cards, but it's less expensive to pay if the package is somehow lost.

3GB net + 500 mins/sms for 17€ + ~5€ for the SIM

Thx for the link and will look into it. Do I need to sign a contract and go to the store? I don't mind to pay few EUR more, as long as the process getting the SIM card is breeze and painless. Another note, I will only be 5 days in Portugal, so I don't get the benefit of a cheap SIM card that covers for a month vs 5 days.

For 5 days, you're probably better off paying a bit more for the hotspot, assuming you can find an easy way to return it.

I too will be in BCN for a couple days early May. I have a usa unlocked Samsung s7 edge on the TMO network. Since I am on tmo and there is unltd data for outside the usa, I think i'll be ok - although I may be limited to 3g speeds.

I also had a usa based tmo phone when I was in Tokyo/Manila some 2 yrs ago...and with tmo I had no problems w/connectivity....except that manila was quite spotty to get full bars on 3g.
