Luggage help at train stations in Spain

My son is traveling to Seville, Spain for a semester abroad this fall. I found a fabulous airfare from JFK to Malaga which would then require him to transfer to the train station in Malaga and take a train to Seville. My concern is that he will have two large suitcases plus a carry on and he would need some help to get to the train platform in Malaga and from the platform in Seville. I have heard that porters and luggage racks are something of a rarity in Europe lately. Is this the case? If so, is there any way to schedule a porter in advance? Any other advice would be most welcome!
