Official Peanut Statistic Thread
An idea was hatched in the 'peanuts thrown down the aisle thread' to get statistics on the number of peanuts in each bag. I will keep track of the numbers and when the sample size is large enough runs some statistics on them.
What I need-
Dates of flight: (if possible)
Number of whole peanuts: (count to halves at one)
Type: (Honey Roasted or Dry Roasted)
Region: (NE, SE, SW, NW)
Comments: Anything out of the ordinary

For late comers, please enjoy the history here:
http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/south...nsanitary.html
If you want to count this old data:
Dates of flight: (if possible) 12-17-11
Number of whole peanuts: (count to halves at one) 17, 17.5
Type: (Honey Roasted or Dry Roasted) DR
Region: (NE, SE, SW, NW) MCI-BWI
Comments: Anything out of the ordinary - Sunday AM flight after a Christmas party, hungover.
Inky's count above is just pitiful, wonder if the honey roast premium is a factor!
Also, I imagine given the variation in the nut sizes I've seen, a logical explanation MIGHT be that these are filled up by WEIGHT. I'll start bringing bags home when travel gears up in a few weeks, properly marked and weighing them too. Good thing I have a "biggest loser" food scale (gift) that has a gram setting since I don't see these even breaking an ounce!

I'll have some data Saturday. Had someone bring me 3 bags of peanuts and after they found out it was for a peanut survey they threw all 3 bags at me LOL. The half peanut/whole peanut sampling was ruined
I have a jewelry scale so I will also weigh them in

Code:
Date of flight: 01/26/2012 Total "whole" peanuts Weight(grams) Code Time Stamp 21.5! 15.80 120528R 20:36 12.5 10.74 120528T 17:41 14.0 11.13 120528X 17:44 Type: HR Region: SEA->MDW
The one with the most peanuts was a slightly larger bag and almost all the peanuts were halves (at least 35 halves (17.5 whole))
Largest peanut weighed 1.29 grams but that was out of the norm (under 1 gram)
Largest bag weighed .65 grams, the other two were .62 grams

Great job Ozzy, that jewelry scale blows away my kitchen scale for sure.
Saw the batch codes and dates, thought of recording it but couldn't make sense or see the value.
Enjoy your week "off" Ink, got 4 flight coming up this week and will report when I return.

I was going to weigh them but got hungry before I got to a scale. Return trip I didn't get any...
Got the girlfriend in on it also.

Number of whole peanuts: 17.5 (14.197g) and 25.5 (18.6781g)
Type: HR, DR

18,22 return
Slept through one passing out.
Scarfed down two bags without remembering to count.
All regular salted.

Made the mistake trying to explain why I was counting peanuts to the basketball coach on my last flight. Definitely felt like a lunatic .
