Leaving Wednesday 12/27 15:00 hours
SNA->MDW
Had my sister check me in while watching a movie inside a theater so she was trying to not be too disruptive but still got in about T-23 hours 59 minutes.
B-26 which will get me an aisle seat.

Good news: got exit row middle (guy tried the 'ole coat in the seat trick to have folks think it was taken).

Bad news: plane boarded but a minor computer glitch has us still at the gate (already 35 minutes late for departure).

Flight completely full.

Flt 5075 SMF-PHX dep 8pm 12/26 737-700
Check in T24: A43
Infinity legroom

Walking down the aisle behind everyone thinking "please don't take it... please don't take it...
please don't take it..."

Flight went out ~90% full. The middle next to me was empty and it was probably late B/early C before the exit seats on the other side filled up

OAK-SLC on Friday late-afternoon, received B-30 - B-33 worst ever!! For the return SLC-OAK we paid for EBCI at T-72 and received A-29-31. Go figure.

2/5 BWI-LAX 7:05pm flight checked in right at T-24. B2 position. Flight was 100% full. I took a window seat in row 17.
2/9 LAX-MDW 3:00pm flight checked in right at T-24. B38 position. Flight was not full, few scattered empty seats. I took a window seat in row 25.
2/10 MDW-BWI 8:00 flight checked in about 2-3hrs after T-24 (since the 2/9 flight had been pushed back 3 hours; I was in-flight when I should have been checking in). B31 position. Flight had 40-50 empty seats. I took an aisle seat in row 17.

Here's an interesting data point:

Yesterday I flew 1568 SMF-PHX. 737-800. I checked in about 5 minutes past T-24. Got B15.

The last person on the plane was maybe a B35-B40 or so.

So there were about 60 people in front of me (75 if we count BS- I didn't check to see how full it was), and only 20-25 people behind me. I only checked in 5 minutes late.

I'm really wishing I would've been able to check in right at T-24 to see what position I would have been. But if EBCI would still get me in the lower half of boarding positions, I don't see the value of it if I'm able to check in at T-24.

Still got seat 2F with no one in the middle, so I'm not terribly disappointed, but I thought it was a bit curious how much of the plane was "elite".

I was supposed to fly out tonight but my mom had some medical issues so I'm stuck flying FLL-BWI-BDL on cruise day after a storm...

T-24 - B59
T-28:30 B12

scheduled for an 800 with no thrus up to BWI...with a lot of family boarding, I may get an aisle or exit row...presumably not an elite heavy flight.

BWI-BDL is a 700 but I should be ok at B12.

Checkin at T-23:55 for Monday am OAK->DEN resulted in B55 - worst we have ever seen!
Bought the 2nd chance (BS) at the gate which resulted in A7.

I can see now how WN made $355 million from EBCI fees last year.

Saturday March 24
RDU-BWI
8:55 AM
Check in at T-24
A41 and 42. Best I've done in awhile and was quite happy to get the two seat pair in the exit row.
