Southwest to hawaii

Anyone hear anymore news on Southwest Airlines flying to Hawaii in 2018? Waiting or an announcement, nothing so far.

You've missed a whole thread of us sitting on the edge of our seats awaiting that announcement. Southwest tricked us and made Hawaii one of their big themes for Spirit Week recently, at the same time as they sponsored some big Hawaii travel conference. It's coming, not to worry. I think they think our anticipation is kind of amusing...

Sorry I'm on mobile and don't see the thread on the first page, so I'm not linking to it =/

Rumor from flight crews on the employee event is that the big announcement will be STL is becoming a crew base. Take it for what it's worth, but seems fairly plausible considering the amount of expansion SW has done at STL.

What, if anything, will that mean for STL?

Why would they schedule a big announcement in CA to talk about STL? Seems like they'd do that...I don't know...in STL...

Or Dallas if it's not really that big of a deal.

The FA I spoke with said its the annual employee appreciation event, and that announcements such as a new crew base always take place at said event.

Somewhat unrelated to Hawaii, but does that suggest they're about to launch some new routes out of STL?

2 thoughts leap to mind:

I can't see this being great news except for crew living in or wanting to live in STL.

How do you have ONE annual employee appreciation event with a significant % of employees in service at any given time? Perhaps they have 4?
