Basic fare: choosing seats?
Just wondering about the new process: for a Basic fare, the rules say "Standard seat assigned at check-in". Does that mean you can choose a seat at 24 hours? Or you are stuck with the one they assign to you?

Airline chooses. Same as Basic Economy on others

Are you still A List? If so, then you can choose when you buy your Basic fare, and change it any time thereafter.

No, no longer A-list.
A related question: when travelling for work, my employer would obligate me to buy the lowest fare. What option do I have if I buy a Basic fare? For example, is there a option to buy Basic, and then pay for a seat choice? If yes, would that price be lower than just buying Choice? Or, is it possible to upgrade a Basic fare to Choice after purchasing? (I could do those upgrades on my own dime) |

You also get a free bag for everyone on you reservation. |

If you travel enough for work and/or pleasure, consider a WN Priority credit card, the annual fee is offset by points ( especially if timed right as I received 100K points) they give you as part of the sign up bonus.

This is the case where your employer signs everyone who they send traveling up for a Southwest card in the business's name.

So...If I have a priority card and book a flight on points at the basic fare, do I still get to choose a preferred seat choice complimentary at time of booking? Also, in that scenario, how does it work with CP, is the same preferred seat choice courtesy extended to the companion?

Personally I book the new flight first and the cancel, I'm not sure if you can do that with companion pass. Also at T-48, if there is availability you can upgrade both seats to ELR. |

And I assume that I'd truly be stuck with that seat (e.g. I get assigned a middle at T-24 hr, and can't move to an Standard seat aisle/window even if one becomes available later on)?
