I have been using points to fly so haven't got drink coupons for a long time. However, on my last flight the person sitting in the row in front of me handed the flight attendant a SW drink coupon and got a drink. Don't know how he got it.

I accumulated a lot of drink coupons pre-COVID and have been depleting my expired ones first. I still have a good stash that should last into 2024, but the free drinks are coming to an end soon. I also had a lot of flights affected by weather so that the FAs were required to stay in their jumpseats for the entire flight or do water service only. Half of my flights are morning and I never drink in the morning. So that has slowed my drink coupon redemption rate.

I have lucked out on the past couple flights where I ordered a drink and they never came back around to collect payments or coupons.
The last of my stash of coupons expire in January 2024.

I recently received a batch from a friend with a 10/31/2023 expiry. She doesn't remember when she received them though.
Last week I was able to bundle one with a long-expired one and the FA never looked at the dates, just put them in her pocket.

"Hi, [NSX]!"
(... so, how long did it take to get back on the wagon?
)
But seriously, I almost never had to use them during that period of time when loads were light at the beginning of Covid (and right when they brought booze back) where they really weren't collecting them.

I still have drink tickets for the period when they weren't actually serving drinks. Feels disingenuous to be so strict about not accepting them, but it's the modern-day Southwest so I'm not surprised.

Just try to use them. Worst that can happen is they say no. You can play dumb, "Oh sorry I have them all bundled together and grabbed the expired ones by mistake."

They extended the expiry of coupons that expired in 2020 until sometime in late 2022
