Monster energy drinks were offered for about a year. Drink coupons were accepted.

Good recall! I had so many unused drink coupons, maybe BS chits too, that I would get 2 per segment and take them home for my teenager. Totally forgot about those.

Yes, but according to their social media accounts, it has to be an unexpired coupon.

apparently there are a lot of expired coupons floating around?

I recall they also had Vitamin Water around 10 years ago for $3 or so (when alcohol was $5). Drink coupons were also accepted for that.

there are a lot of expired coupons floating around since there was no use for a significant portion of the last three years.

... and their being discontinued was one of the few decisions WN made I really didn't like; I didn't want booze on the way to work, but sure I could do an energy drink.

I've had zero problems redeeming my already expired coupons. All of these had expiration dates 2020-2022. I've been burning the oldest coupons first.

That's not any worse than many of the sodas they already serve.

For years I would fly out very early Monday mornings with 2 BS coups, after they started heavily enforcing the expiration. I could not bring myself to waste them so towards the end of the 2nd flight I would order coffee and 2 Baileys to wake up. The Baileys was like chocolate milk.

I wasn't even able to redeem my non expired coupons last flight I was on. Two flights in a row I got a drink and neither time did they collect any payment. This was back in January, just a couple of weeks post meltdown, so I wondered if it was a sort of unannounced goodwill gesture.

I think it's just another of those "it just depends" situations; I finally got thru my 2020-issued coupons mid-Spring last year, and now sitting on a stack of ones expiring mid-late this year; it's not uncommon (and for many years) for them to either not collect the coupons, or get a "Buy One, Get N" deal if they felt like it. Of course, there's the by-the-book-ers, but the odds have been so much in my favor it's quite alright, earning them just a hair faster than I can spend them.
