@SWAVictor (et al.)- how many A-List Preferred are (approximately) out there?

I can imagine if this information is either considered business confidential or held close to the vest in any case, but could we get even estimates of how many:

- RR members
- A-Listers
- A-List-Preferreds

there are (or at least the latter two as percentages of the RR total)? I'll admit my curiosity is 90% selfish, as I'm just curious to know how (approximately, of course) big the pool of other AL+ there are (esp. in the affluent/business-heavy intra-CA market) I'm competing against for SDCs, Standbys (not that much a thing anymore) and even the WiFi .

For all airlines: Making money. Oh, one other: how much they and their employees gave to a charity/charities.

Since I was tagged, I didn't want you to think I was ignoring you - but this not information that even I, as an employee, have access to.

With all loyalty programs, especially in the travel sector, the number of top-tier elites / HVCs (high-value customers) is a closely guarded secret. There would literally be no advantage to sharing the data, yet numerous drawbacks.

Even if the number was available... what would it mean?

With some 3000+ flights a day with 400,000+ passengers per day... what would those numbers mean?

It's all good, especially since I'm apparently more likely to wake up with Herb the Ghost of Travel Past at the foot of my bed before I got a real number anyway. And @NoStressHere, you're right- even if I'd had exact counts, there's nothing real I could do with the information (esp. for any given flight) but I mostly just wanted to know how special I am big the pool is, overall.

If you had asked for a percentage range of A-listers and preferreds per flight, you might have had a chance at an answer. The range is certainly very different for MCO than for DEN, so probably not useful.

... which is true- but had I'd been told (e.g.,) "there's ~7M RRs and ~100K AL+" then I could kind of get an idea just via guesstimation and statistics.

Ah well, had to ask. Back to guessing games

Day of week and city pair will have lots of impact as well.

As A-list from Miami on weekend, we got A-19. As many here know, sometimes A-list folks slide all the way to B.

Go figure.

While we cant share these statistics, I can assure you kennycrudup that you are definitely special to us. Thank you for choosing to fly with SWA!

And if I shared the number, my Coheart Corbitt would definitely keep me in check. And look at his kick. Its serious yall. A quick gif from our teaser video for this years HalloWN skit.

Thanks as always to all our Southwest Customers and Cohearts. Wishing you all a very wonderful Thanksgiving. I hope you all can cherish the time with your loved ones.

With LUV,
Mark

It depends on the day on the week, your destination, and even the time of the day.
Just one example from my SNA experience. Mon -Thu first flight to SJC: 80+% have status. The moment the boarding starts, two dozens of A list folks who did not get A group boarding passes are lining up to board between A and B groups. Friday first flight: hardly any A1-15 or A+. With an A list you can get A 16-25 easily. Similar way on weekends.

I'll be making A+ again for 2023, but fly on WN almost only east of a line from about DAL to MSP, so not sure how much my data point helps you?
