PIT-MYR/PHX daily seems to be gone to. But now we get 6x PIT-BWI. 🤪

PIT-HOU has been gone too. They axed it in 2020, brought it back over Christmas, then dropped it again. At the same time they seem to have increased frequency to MDW and DEN and brought back STL. I can't quite figure out what the strategy is.

southeest has seasonal service routes when demand is higher.

but because of crew shortages they need to streamline routes sending secondary markets through their “ hub” cities like MDW and DEN. Because of volume limits in places like MDW they use secondary airports like STL and MCI for XC routes.

That's not a good explanation because HOU and DAL are hub airports and PIT had non-stop flights to/from them for many years.

it’s from logical streamlining.

southwest is operating a more hub spoke system due to reduced flights.

to go west they can route people thru Chicago or denver….if they are going east or SE they can go thru Baltimore or nashville or Orlando.

going through Dallas isn’t necessary
