Likely targeted, Free CP until 2/28/23 and 30k points for new cardholders w $5k spend

As I expected would come, a new CP offer for new cardholders who have not taken a sign-up bonus in the past 24 months.

The email I got came from Southwest (not Chase).

Must-sign up in the next month through the link (not provided here), and then 90 days to do the $5k spend, then you get the CP turned on with an expiration of 2/28/23 (so for most people, less than 1 year) plus the 30k points. Unfortunately, I still don't see a lot of leisure (or business) travel so bringing someone along is not a high-value yet.

1-year Companion Pass + 30k points for a $69 credit card

Deal is on the home page at southwest.com

30,000 points after you spend $5,000 on purchases in the first 3 months from account opening.
Offer ends 3/14/2022. Promotional Companion Pass valid through 2/28/2023.
$69 annual fee applied to your first billing statement.
This should help people who got the 2-month CP for flying once.

Here is a link for anyone that wants to do it (copy and paste):
Code:
https://creditcards.chase.com/a1/southwest/AEPCP30kPlus222?CELL=6PLV
Note the 24 month rule.

(thanks for edit - though I found it publicly and not via an email. Actually I had trouble finding it in my regular browser and went to an alternate. Still -thanks)

I received the email as well. There's also a banner ad on SWA's homepage.

The new companion pass offer has me steaming!

Hope I am wrong about this! SW just came out with new welcome bonus, 30k points and companion pass through 02/2023 after $5000 spend. Maybe/maybe not a good deal for some.
We were close to the (almost) 2 year companion pass. Hubby just completed $5000 spend on business card to get 80k points. Put off applying for personal card, hoping offer would go from 40k to 50k. Now neither seems to be available. Even if 30k points works for us, spend is $5,000 vs the $1000 on the previous offers. That’s a lot of lost Ultimate Rewards points lost in bonus categories.
Am I missing something? Or are we scxxxed .

We may get a referral bonus from relative. Can husband refer me for a second bonus? I’m not churning cards like before and won’t ever get companion pass myself again as it is no longer possible to get welcome rewards for 2 personal cards.
thanks for any help.

For future reference, when does your "24 month clock" start? The T&C's state 24 months since your "last bonus". Does that mean 24 months since applying for the card? Receiving a bonus? Receiving your last bonus? Or closing of the statement where you received you last bonus? (My example covers this past Fall's 50k for 2k and another 50k for 12k spend bonuses). When can I apply for a new card?

I would look at since Chase pushed the bonus to your Southwest card (so could be quite a bit more than 24 months since you applied for the card).

Any card or just another personal Southwest card. IOW, would having a business card not count as already having a card?

Specifically says business card doesn’t count as having card.

Does this trigger the 24 rule for a welcome bonus either receiving the from having one less than 24 or getting another in under 24?
