SFgate says WN confirmed it was one of their pilots: https://www.sfgate.com/travel/articl...t-16049942.php

California "liberals" and Hyundai drivers?? Wouldn't rule out parody...acting out.

"You don’t have balls unless you’re f------ rolling coal man, g--------," means polluting the air visibly and intentionally.

Seems over-the-top.

I know a few pilots. I very much doubt it was "parody."

Strange, "hot mic" clip... usually there is a conversation. This just seems to be some guy completely unprovoked complaining about what he doesn't like in California. Really has nothing to do with his ability as a pilot.... just assign him to routes in the mid-west and south and they can livestream his audio the whole flight - problem solved!

Except the FAA says “subjects that are unrelated to safely conducting their flight while taxiing and while flying below 10,000 feet" are not allowed.

Expect a GoFundMe effort for the pilot.

Hoping they fire this pilot and he is banned from flying anywhere again. I wouldn't want this hate-filled bully flying a plane I am on....

Meh...he will get slapped with some remedial training since it escalated to the FAA in violation of the sterile cockpit rule and PR embarrassment for WN then they can say they did something to address it but thanks to the Pilot's Union he is not going anywhere.

If that is what he got caught sayin ON a hot mic wonder what else he says off mic!...sure hope he doesn't fly into SFO!

Hot mics happen all the time...that was pretty funny, just not usually that extreme. Guarantee all the WN pilots also on frequency were shaking their heads knowing it was one of theirs and the Alaska and United Pilots of frequency were laughing their azzes off!

Why are people calling for him to be fired? Apart from a few f bombs there’s nothing too bad been said here, and his only wrong step was leaving the mic on. Slap on the wrist for minor FAA violation and move on with our lives thanks.

Especially Hyundai is not as popular as Honda and/or Toyota in CA...

Are you serious? Why do you care about the political views of a pilot as long as he gets you to your destination safely?

probably because it may impact passenger safety?

the pilot of 4U9525 was an ordinary pilot who had no trouble taking off and landing - until the day he snapped and decided to crash into a mountain.

He should keep his job on the condition of living a year in the Bay Area. Its a big, diverse, and beautiful place. And hed realize that most of the areas liberals would fit in just fine in Orange County if he ignores what they say and pays attention to what they do.

I don't subscribe to that guy's political philosophy, but if he is a good, competent pilot with a good record, I don't really care about his political beliefs. If the transmission indicated some mental illness red flag, that is another matter (the German fly into mountain concern). However, most of us have been caught in a hot mic or overheard comment that was inadvertent. A slap on the hand for first offense would probably be sufficient unless there are other concerns that haven't appeared in public.
