Saw part of the press conference for the first flight into VPS today and get the impression that WN is happy enough with ticket sales that they'd like to be there for a while. Amusingly, whoever put the press conference together forgot that there's about an 85% chance of commercial aircraft landing on the north/south runway (aka the Polderbaan of the Americas) so there was the obligatory standing around and doing nothing for 10-15 minutes in the middle of the presser before the plane got to the civilian air terminal.

Flew inaugural BNA-VPS arriving mid morning, great cabin crew with lots of hometown ties to the Destin area.
Captain was the union negotiator and now heads the SWAPA
pilot group. FA born and raised in Destin, has private pilots license, and Captain was his first flight instructor before he got a job offer from Southwest. Fort Walton was named after his great great uncle.
We had an fairly late go around / aborted landing. After enjoying a second aerial tour of the city, look closely at this photo to see fighter jets holding short of the runway, giving WN priority landing clearance!
Lots of swag, beach towel and hat at every seat, plus goodie bag and live music in the terminal at landing.
I heard that alot of the press events may have followed the second flight in (from DAL). FA was a bit sour that the Dallas flight was referred to as the inaugural despite arriving hours after we did.
