Question 3x Grocery Promo Clarification

Just trying to make sure I understand the terms of this promo -- Chase email states "3x total points per $1 spent on grocery store purchases on up to $1,500 total spend per calendar month." If I'm understanding that correctly, the max you can earn the bonus on is $1500/mo, so 3K bonus miles available to be earned each month. Is that right??

Did not get an email like this. Must be targeted.

I got the email. $1,500 per month maximum spent on groceries x 3 would be 4,500 points per month total possible. There is some limitation on what store counts as a grocery store, I believe. Check the fine print before you spend.

I don't think it's targeted.

I didn't get the email but I saw it mentioned in another thread a while back, then checked my account activity on the Chase site and found that I had received 3x points on a small purchase at a corner grocery. In discussion in that thread, someone mentioned that the CSR is running a 5x points on groceries promo, and a quick search led me to this article which lists a bunch of Chase cards running grocery bonus promos.

Frequent Miler blog has a post from early May covering every card they could find with its bonuses. Continually updated with nice charts.

My business card with a grocery purchase on 7 May did NOT get the bonus (closed 12 May), but my P2 personal card with a grocery purchase on 8 May (closes 2 Jun) IS showing the bonus points.

Thanks to all for this info! One follow-up question: the emails I've received describe a two-month calendar month window. Given that, what do people imagine are the rules for posting? For example, if I spend at a qualifying grocery store this coming Sunday the 31st, that transaction will certainly post by the end of the promo (June 30), but probably not by the end of the month. What are the odds that that spend would qualify for the May thresholds?

Fine print below for anyone interested:

* You will earn a total of 3 points for each $1 spent, on up to $1,500 in total purchases each month, in the grocery store category from 05/01/2020 to 06/30/2020. That's 2 points on top of the 1 point you already earn on grocery store purchases with your card. Merchants who accept Visa/Mastercard credit cards are assigned a merchant code, which is determined by the merchant or its processor in accordance with Visa/Mastercard procedures based on the kinds of products and services they primarily sell. We group similar merchant codes into categories for purposes of making rewards offers to you. Please note: We make every effort to include all relevant merchant codes in our rewards categories. However, even though a merchant or some of the items that it sells may appear to fit within a rewards category, the merchant may not have a merchant code in that category. When this occurs, purchases with that merchant won't qualify for rewards offers on purchases in that category. Purchases submitted by you, an authorized user, or the merchant through third-party payment accounts, mobile or wireless card readers, online or mobile digital wallets, or similar technology will not qualify in a rewards category if the technology is not set up to process the purchase in that rewards category. For more information about Chase rewards categories, chase.com/RewardsCategoryFAQs. Purchases posted to your account with a transaction date during the offer period are eligible for this offer. Delays by the merchant, such as shipping, could extend the transaction date beyond the offer period. Please allow 6 to 8 weeks after qualifying purchases post to your account for points to post to your account. ("Purchases" do not include balance transfers, cash advances, travelers checks, foreign currency, money orders, wire transfers or similar cash-like transactions, lottery tickets, casino gaming chips, race track wagers or similar betting transactions, any checks that access your account, interest, unauthorized or fraudulent charges, and fees of any kind, including an annual fee, if applicable.) To qualify for this bonus offer, account must be open and not in default at the time of fulfillment. This bonus offer is non-transferable and applies only to the account of the primary cardmember referenced in this offer. Eligible credit cards: Southwest Rapid Rewards® Premier Credit Card, Southwest Rapid Rewards® Priority Credit Card, Southwest Rapid Rewards® Plus Credit Card, and the Southwest Rapid Rewards® Employee Credit Card.
