Clawing back RR points ???
Quick question... Can or will Southwest try to claw back points? I earned the companion pass for this year by using it on 2 large ticket purchases. Both of those purchases are going to be refunded back to the cards due to covid (airline tickets and cruise). Can or will Southwest try to take those points back.. I dont even mind the points , I just want to make sure it won't affect my companion pass One of those credit cards is closed, the other is a business card that is still open but carries a zero balance. Anyone have an idea how this will work?

The real danger is being blacklisted by Chase. I recommend spending enough on the open account so that Chase does not need to send you a refund check.

I would use that card primarily and try to have lots of "normal" expenditures to lower the risk of a clawback or investigation.
(charging large refundable expenses - like a future vacation - is an easy way to meet the spend for some folks)

I am not worried about Chase. I have 4 other cards with Chase. My sapphire card is what I primarily use for spending. I have 87,000+ points in my southwest account due to several cancelled flights of late. Chase said that they will issue me a check since that premier card was closed. Those purchases enabled me to get the companion pass. I was just wondering if there would be any impact on my CP.

Yes it was. When I added a business card to my acct in Nov, I acquired enough points for the companion pass. We have only been able to use it once this year with 2 trips being cancelled so far but others being planned for this fall and the first half of 2021. I just want to make sure they won't revoke my Companion Pass.

WN has the right to do that. It depends if Chase vacuums the points back for not meeting minimum bonus spend.

Like a card with a very large credit balance and no spending.

Is this business card the one you cancelled? If it is, why? If you just recently received a sign up bonus card is obviously fairly new. This means that you have already paid your annual fee and shouldn't have to pay another until after your first year.
Also, I probably already know the answer, but did you spend enough on the card after you get you money refunded to have still met that minimum spend requirement?

I had a $12 return on my SW business card that I haven't been using either.. It is showing that my chase points have a -12 balance on that card, but It doesn't seem to affect my point balance on Southwest. The Sapphire point balance is 187,000+ points . I wonder if it because I have converted Chase Sapphire points to Southwest points this year?

I asked Delta and Chase this same exact question, both told me they only claw back points if there is a negative balance on a statement.
I would make sure you spend that credit so your statement doesn't close with a negative balance.
Obviously the closed card presents a problem, this is why I only close cards a month or so before the AF is due and 6 months after my last purchase.

That closed card where they are sending you a check COULD present a problem and nobody here is going to be able to tell you for sure how it's going to work out. GL
