All BUR flights canceled 3/1 evening

What's going on at Burbank tonight? All flights into and out of BUR have been canceled this afternoon/evening.

I flew in on a Spirit flight LAS-BUR and the airport was a ghost town.

Warehouse fire/explosions adjacent to BUR.

So that affected Southwest even though all the other airlines were able to fly?
Also looks like the fire was around noon and Southwest didn't cancel all remaining flights until around 4:30p

No idea then. You got where you needed to be. Guess that’s all that really matters.

Combination pizza of easterly winds/crosswind issues on and off for several hours combined with a period of rain. BUR does not depart turbojets off of RWY 08. Contaminated (wet) runways combined with crosswinds = need for longer landing/takeoff distance calculations than normal. BUR does not HAVE "longer" anything. Just one of those days.

We were scheduled to fly out of BUR to LAS on the last flight of the night tonight, but finished up business in Burbank earlier than expected. Took 2:40pm flight instead. WHEW!

Wow that's really interesting. Wonder if WN has stricter requirements for their aircraft than UA, AA, AS, NK who all continued flying last night.

I was on a AS flight from BUR a couple of years ago that ran into crosswind issues. They were forced to offload about 5-10 people. I assumed there is a required climb gradient on instrument departures on the crosswind runway or it is way shorter and they needed less weight to meet their balanced field requirements. These are requirements not something from which they can deviate. I have no idea if that is what effected SW though.

737, ERJ175 & A320 runway length requirements are different.

Can't really blame WN for being hesitant and wary.

I wonder how they got that 737 out of the scrunchie blocks, and how much repair got done after that?
