You tipped a flight attendant?

She accepted it?

You got 3-4 rounds of drinks on a Southwest flight?

Yes, yes, and yes. Cross country trip, and after giving our group 25-30 free drinks, I think she earned it. I'm not sure why you are so shocked.

I have all these coupons stacking up which I just cant seem to use.

Sometimes, Because I get drunk in the Lounge itself and go to sleep as soon as I get in my seat.

But lately, because, the FA has been refusing to take the coupon. More than 50% of the times in last 2 months (14 trips)

I probably have like 12 or so of this sitting in my bag. SW keeps sending them.

It's generally considered inappropriate to tip a flight attendant, as they are trained professionals who are there primarily for your safety. The flight attendants union is against it and most carriers discourage the practice. In Southwest's case, FAs are supposed to decline a tip if offered.

I have a rather silly question. I have 4 drink coupons that I was planning on using. We are flying on 9/11. I just pulled out the coupons and they expire on 8/31/19. 😞. Is there any chance we could still use them? Are they super tight on the expiration date? If so, we will just be paying for our drinks.

Thanks for any input...

FWIW, I've used one a week out of expiration and it was accepted OK.

Thanks Kennycrudup, I will give it a shot. The worst they can say is no and we pay for our drinks.

I just found a really old one. Expired in 2017. I wonder if I can pass it.

If you are getting more than one drink, put the old one on the bottom. They barely look at them and just shove them in their pocket.

I have a boatload that expired last year. Keep trying unsuccessfully to use them - we keep being delayed and not charged for drinks =p

I had a short flight (and very lightly loaded) and before take off I asked the FA if she thought we would get a drink service in bc I had two coupons expiring and on my flight two nights prior we weren't able to squeeze one in. Well we did get it in, she brought me 4(!) drinks, and told me to keep the coupons and that they'd probably get accepted next month still. Obviously YMMV but I have never seen an FA actually check mine when I hand them over.

So, I ran a friend's new coupon (all I have are legacy ones) thru the Barcode Scanner app. Their RR# isn't in there, but there's some potential PII in there (which I've Xed randomly, and issue and expiration dates:

First one in the tearsheet:
Code:
{"VNUM":"D1004311XXX298",
"CTYPE":"DRINK",
"EXP":"30JUN2020",
"ISS":"25JUN2019",
"IPI":"2-I45HXXX"}
Fourth one in the tearsheet:
Code:
{"VNUM":"D1004311XXX511",
"CTYPE":"DRINK",
"EXP":"30JUN2020",
"ISS":"25JUN2019",
"IPI":"2-I45HXXX"}

My latest batch has the QR code. Must be a prelude to better inventory management of drinks and/or tracking who is redeeming the vouchers.

My understanding is that the QR codes are there primarily as a tool to help address counterfeiting / ebay sales.
