Flt canceled, traveling with guitar - suggestions?
D was scheduled to fly on 3894 today from LGA to DEN. She's bringing her guitar on board and had paid for early bird check in so she could put it in an overhead bin. Early this morning she got a refund notice on EB check in, and then a cancel notice for her flight. (Inbound on that aircraft was also shown as canceled.) She managed to get rebooked on a late afternoon flight..but with a high C boarding pass.
Any suggestions?

It is very rare on WN that a flight has to send luggage back off the plane. Yes, it happens, but I usually watch last arrivals find room.
Still.... if a concern, I would do the gate upgrade - $30-$45 and you board A1-a15

Gate upgrade is really cheap insurance for a musical instrument.
She could first explain her situation to the GA. While not likely, it’s not impossible that they would help her board early because of the extenuating circumstances.

It is not likely that you could ... but just in case, don't switch to United. Because, as everybody knows ... United Breaks Guitars:

Since there is time to kill with the change, play music (on the guitar) and sing in front of the terminal, collect donations and pay for a better position. If a great singer, a ticket in business class on a better airline.
Watch out for cops and security guards.
Alternative, put padding on it, pretend it's a crutch and preboard.
