Mine covered the $14 they were initially charging for Hawaii point fees, and didn't retract any credit when WN credited all but $5.60 back. Don't know if we'll bother with the card next year, I think it'll depend on how useful we find the BS boarding upgrades.

Did you ever find out if a gift card purchase direct from Southwest.com triggers the $75 credit on the Priority? Im trying to figure out ways to redeem the credit before canceling the card. I havent flown Southwest in 2 years.

I'm concerned about keeping GCs around since a thief could redeem the number.

Awesome thanks for confirming. Good point about the GC #. I may do the book a flight and cancel route since flight credits no longer expire.

Can not argue with earlier post, but credit cards for airlines sometimes go through a 3rd party. Maybe it works.
I like the idea of booking a flight then converting to points for future use. They are always there vs a card getting lost - which is why companies love selling them.
